Laurels 2004-2005 Multimedia DVD
The Laurels Project is currently seeking funding for its multimedia DVD
The MULTIMEDIA DVD contains filmed documentation of the LAURELS composers and commissioning artist Nina Assimakopoulos at work, replete with interviews and commentary filmed from project inception to realization. The DVD contains composer background information, as well as historical information on women composers, and question and answer guides and introductory outlines for classroom moderation and concert presentations.
The DVD would be available singularly as well as in combined distribution with the LAURELS Music Anthology, providing materials for interactive presentations. The LAURELS DVD furnishes a Question and Survey section valuable for measuring project impact, enlisting increased participation, and improving future project plans.
"This project will be as important in schools and conservatories as in the concert hall. Documenting with film, the performer
and composer working together as well as the interaction of author and composer, Prof. Assimakopoulos will show the progress
and growth of each work. This will encourage young musicians to try some of these ideas for themselves [inspiring] them to
interact with fellow students who create poetry and other literary forms."
- Ruth Lomon, Laurels 2004-2005 Roster Composer
The LAURELS DVDs are part of a correlative body of work supporting the LAURELS objectives to:
- Assemble multidimensional documentation and curricular reference material.
- Foster audience connection to twenty-first century art music through literary and visual avenues of entry.
