The
BGSU flute studio is a community of ambitious, dedicated, and fun
loving students who are supportive in their interactions with each
other and excel in both their academic and musical studies. We meet as
a group every Friday from 3:30-5:00 for studio seminar. This time
allows us to connect and say hello at the end of a busy week, hear each
other play, become familiar with the flute repertoire, work on our
performing and memory skills, and enjoy guest artist master classes and
recitals!
During
the 2007-2008 year alone we hosted six visiting artist flute master
classes and performances. Some of the artists who have visited BGSU in
the last few years include James Galway, Emmanuel Pahud, Peter Lloyd,
Christina Jennings, Harvey Sollberger, George Pope, Jonathan Keeble,
Michel Debost, Nancy Stagnitta, Terri Sundberg… (and the
list goes on)!
2008
marks the opening year for FSE&O -Flute Studio Enrichment
& Outreach a BGSU campus organization led by the flute studio
team. FSE&O’s outreach division specializes in
interactive concerts and educational outreach in community schools,
nursing homes, mentally handicapped organizations, and K-6 after-school
programs. The enrichment division specializes in bringing exceptional
artists for master classes and performances as well as organizing
events for Friday studio workshops. Stay tuned for our April 4th, 2009
Ohio Flute Fest, as well as 2008-2009 studio workshops on pranayama
breathing, flute repair, building a home based studio, and much more!
